Recycled vs. Used: Understanding the Critical Difference
| Feature | Standard Used Pallets | Advance Pallet Recycled Pallets |
|---|---|---|
| Core Process | Inspected & sorted "as-is". Minor spot repairs. | Complete disassembly & remanufacturing. Components individually graded. |
| Structural Integrity | Relies on original construction. May have hidden fatigue. | Re-engineered build. Weak components replaced, often reinforced. |
| Material Composition | 100% original, aged lumber. | Hybrid construction. Sound reclaimed lumber + new key components (stringers/blocks). |
| Performance Guarantee | Based on visual grade (A, B, Economy). | Performance-based specification. Built to meet defined load capacity standards. |
| Consistency | Varies within a grade batch. | High consistency. Built to a uniform standard, like a new product. |
| Environmental Impact | Reuse (extends life). | True Upcycling. Reclaims material for highest-value reuse. |
| Ideal Application | Internal moves, one-way shipping for durable goods. | Customer-facing shipping, automated systems, heavier loads — where reliability is critical. |
| Cost vs. New | Save 40–70%. | Save 25–50%. |
Our 7-Step Recycled Pallet Process
Step 1: Sorting & Breakdown
We carefully sort returned pallets and dismantle quality units, saving the best lumber.
Step 2: Inspecting Every Piece
Each board is checked. Only “sound” lumber without cracks or rot moves forward.
Step 3: Cutting & Preparing
Reclaimed wood is trimmed square, removing old damage for a clean rebuild.
Step 4: Reinforcing with New Lumber
We add new, kiln-dried stringers or blocks for critical strength, ensuring a hybrid build that lasts.
Step 5: Precision Reassembly
We then rebuild to exact 48″x40″ or custom specs.
Step 6: Final Quality Check
Every batch is inspected. Random pallets are load-tested to guarantee performance.
Step 7: Ready for Delivery
Finished pallets are stacked and banded, ready for pickup or delivery across BC and Alberta.

They are built to meet the same performance specifications for dynamic and static load capacity as a standard new pallet. By replacing the most critical stress-bearing components (like stringers) with new, kiln-dried lumber, we ensure structural integrity that often exceeds that of a typical used pallet and rivals a new one.
This is a limitation of the process. For a pallet to be certified as heat-treated (HT) under ISPM 15 regulations, all components must bear the HT stamp. Since our recycled pallets use reclaimed lumber, we cannot guarantee this. For export, we strongly recommend our new, heat-treated pallets.
Absolutely. We actively purchase damaged and broken pallets from businesses across our service area. This provides you with a small revenue stream, ensures proper recycling, and feeds the raw materials for our recycled pallet line. Contact your local yard in Surrey, Kelowna, or Calgary for current buy-back rates.
Consider your application. If your priority is lowest cost for internal, non-critical, or one-way shipping, used pallets are ideal. If you need enhanced reliability, consistency, and a professional appearance for customer shipments or automated handling—and want a strong sustainability story—recycled pallets provide the optimal value balance.
